🤝 Getting comfortable with talking about money is the first step in talking about money.
🤝 Know your worth (by doing research). Glassdoor, PayScale, Get Raised, and Comparably are great resources for determining an estimate salary range based on location, industry, role, and experience.
🤝 Get clear on the tangible (salary, time off, retirement, insurance, parental leave, perks) and intangible (flexibility, great boss, mission, growth, commute) benefits that are most important to you.
🤝 Have a negotiation strategy researched and ready before its needed — and practice in advance with someone you trust!
🤝 Make a plan for the next 5 years: know how and when raises are decided, plant seeds before you’re up for review, share data and documentation to make your case, keep in mind that 1-3% is standard, and be prepared to move if growth in your current position isn’t possible.
