Diane Boly and Pat Welch have been active and successful business partners in the Portland community since ’75. Together they have built a successful and sustainable recruiting and consulting firm that has always put ‘fit’ first – both for clients and within the company.
And, we’ve made it our business to connect with organizations that represent the unique patchwork of our Portland Metro community. The Rose City is the bullseye for foodie, bicycle-centric companies and start-ups – good news for the Boly:Welch team of local connectors! The deep web of relationships continues to grow over 30 years of successful placements and human capital solutions.
Backed by our local market presence, financial strength, business partnerships and tenured staff in each of our four service areas, we consistently exceed client expectations.
As you get to know our team, you’ll learn that our commitment to community and sustainability is more than just words. Active volunteerism and philanthropy run deep within the Boly:Welch culture — in fact, they’re in our DNA. We’re also above average on the pet friendly side, so you’ll likely hear a bark or a yip when you call or stop by to meet with us. It’s about creating a work environment that brings out the best in all of us — and a philosophy that has earned recognition as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work for in Oregon since 2003 and recently as a Certified B Corporation.
The August 2015 announcement of Andrew Welch as company President aligned the agency’s vision to maintain local ownership, a unique culture and reputation for excellence with a shifting generational landscape. This change was a best-fit solution to maintain a sustainable and community-minded philosophy for the future leadership structure of the company.

Pat Welch balances a busy work schedule with an active personal life. For more than 30 years, she and co-founder Diane Boly have continued to actively manage the 40+ person staff at this multi-division, full-service recruiting and consulting agency.
Relationships have always driven Pat. Whether it’s getting to know her identical twin grandsons, hanging out with her person of interest, working with a client to grow their business, or nurturing a candidate through the job search process, people matter most to her. Oh, and did we mention she has set up 43 couples on dates that led to marriage? More
Andrew Welch is a sixth generation Oregonian and an incorrigible contrarian. He accepts rules because they provide opportunities to break them, but much prefers exceptions and outliers. A circuitous path through virtually every career and continent brought him back to his roots at Boly:Welch, hungry to vanquish mediocrity in all of its insidious forms and learn more about the family business.
When he’s not hunting rough diamonds of talent in the muddy backwaters of Portland, you can find him leading our multi-generational team to success, with a goal of improving the quality and value of Boly:Welch services while maintaining the culture that we love. More
