Our Culture

Active volunteerism, philanthropy, and environmental sustainability play an important part in who we are at Boly:Welch. We’re committed to inclusivity, accountability, unbeatable service, and work/life balance.

Boly:Welch partners with organizations to attract and retain top talent by putting people front and center.

No algorithm can replace the deep experience of matching talent with opportunity — because we always discover more beyond the resume.

  • Relationships take work — and we love that work.
  • Our success is meaningful and measurable.
  • We are better together.
  • We stay nimble to meet the moment.
  • People are our priority.
  • Have fun out there!

Boly:Welch was founded by two women with a vision of creating a company where single mothers could be wildly successful without compromising their commitment to either their careers or their families. As we continue to evolve, we stay true to that vision of building organizations where everyone can thrive, especially those for whom the workplace was not designed.

The workforce has historically been a space where people have been excluded and undervalued because of their race, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other marginalized, and often intersectional, identities.

As a Portland-based company, we know our region’s past has shaped our current demographics to be one of the most racially homogenous areas in America by specifically discriminating against Black, Indigenous, and immigrant communities. Intentional decisions have created our current reality, and intentional efforts are necessary for change. Although there has been progress, the journey toward true inclusion in the workforce for everyone is ongoing.

At Boly:Welch, we don’t just fill roles, we’re building inclusive teams and cultures. We know that positive change requires consistent work, so we invest in our team’s development so we can be consultative with everyone. We give our time, money, and resources back to our community, because we know where Portland goes, so does Boly:Welch.

We cultivate deep relationships with, learn from, and consult with our clients and candidates. This allows us to be trusted partners and co-create workplaces that are increasingly diverse and equitable.

At Boly:Welch, we believe everyone deserves to feel like they belong.

We’re committed to practices that meet the needs of the present without comprising the future, and to suppliers that represent local or underserved communities. Learn more about this commitment at Portland Means Progress.

We’ve developed strategies and purchasing policies that enable us to move toward sustainability while enhancing the value we bring to our clients, job seekers, employees, and community:

  • Minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled paper and paper products; 100% where possible
  • Use real dishes and glassware instead of single-use items in our office kitchen
  • Recycle everything possible
  • Utilize electronic documents instead of paper copies when possible
  • Offer internal employee subsidies for public transportation and bicycle commuting
  • Daily composting of food scraps in our office kitchen
  • Reusable toner and ink cartridges
  • Low flow toilets in lavatories and low flow faucets in the office kitchen
  • Office remodeled to maximize energy efficiency
  • Energy Star 5.0 | EPEAT Silver compliant computer monitors for the entire office

Boly:Welch believes in the full inclusion of all qualified candidates and employees and aims to cultivate a work environment that is diverse across race, religion, age, size, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, identity, experience, and perspective — where every person who joins our team can reach their personal and professional goals.

Our equal employment opportunity philosophy covers all employees. We hire, mentor, promote, and compensate employees on their skills and potential for advancement without basing employment decisions on any status protected by local, state, or federal law.

B Corp Certified

We’re proud to be part of a global movement to use business as a force for good, and our success depends on the economic vitality, social equity, and health of the community where we all live, work, and prosper.

That means we’ve worked hard to meet the rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency for B Corporation certification — along with nearly 150 other Oregon companies that share this designation.
