Your New Role:
Boly Welch is working exclusively in a retained partnership with Oregon-Canadian Forest Products (OCFP) to recruit their next VP of Operations. This is a unique opportunity to join the Executive Leadership team of this profitable high-end wood product company that drives resources from the Pacific NW and beyond.

Rarely does a role like this come available. OCFP is building the next generation of leadership and seeks an energetic, forward-thinking candidate who is both hands-on with production and can pivot when needed to bring data insights for future planning.

As the VP of Operations, you’ll bring extensive expertise in manufacturing best practices and a keen eagerness to learn the intricacies of these specialty products. Reporting directly to the President and working closely with the leadership team, you’ll develop strategic plans and execute objectives with front-line personnel. This executive role is crucial for maintaining high production standards while driving continuous improvement and innovation.

With the same level of care they apply to the quality of product they produce, the VP of Operations will oversee and mentor all mill employees, leading with empathy and accountability. With a proven track record of identifying efficiencies and implementing process improvements, you’ll steer the business towards future innovation, profitability, and growth.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee daily operations of the lumber mill, ensuring production schedules and quality standards are met
  • Continuously monitor, analyze, and implement production processes and policies to optimize efficiency and productivity
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all critical processes
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and optimize processes
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Work closely with Human Resources on employee hiring, training, mentoring, and development
  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring all operations comply with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations
  • Collaborate with CEO and senior management to develop and execute strategic plans for operational growth and innovation
  • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, and finance teams, along with ownership, during company financial reviews to maximize long-term performance and profitability
  • Foster strong relationships with reliable suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality raw materials
