Chief Executive Officer

After a highly impactful career of service, the founding CEO of AllCare Health — the premier physician-led Coordinated Care Organization servicing Southwest Oregon — was ready to plan for retirement. The Board of Directors was faced with an unprecedented search for leadership, and knew enormous planning and process was on their shoulders.

Who could lead such a search? How could historical knowledge be successfully transferred? How might their B Corp culture be best preserved? Would a rural location hinder their success? What role would succession planning play in the search process?

Challenge: Founding CEO retiring after a long career of service

The Search Committee was comprised of CCO Board Members, practicing physician-owners, and select community professionals — many of whom had never engaged with a search at this level. The Committee was aware that this search would require candidates with a very specific industry knowledge base, and would need to align with their B Corp values and culture.  

It was critical that the engaged search firm be able to listen and identify their key priorities and lead a process that would work towards their business objectives. 

Process: Customized through partnership and collaboration

Boly:Welch Executive Search took a 360-degree approach, working closely with AllCare Health’s General Council, Search Committee, current CEO, and industry experts to tailor the search through a determined scope of work, timelines, process, and priorities.  

We gathered crucial input from stakeholders and conducted deep market research that informed a position description that would target our ideal candidate and empower us to successfully execute a strategic go-to-market plan.  

In collaboration with the Committee Chair, we brought forward a talented pool of candidates. We created and implemented best practices for this selection process and review of talent, and supported interview planning, deliberations, negotiations, and onboarding considerations.  

Outcome: AllCare Health selected their new CEO and set transition plans in motion

The new CEO was announced, and Max Janasik started at AllCare Health in January 2024.

Max is a highly respected and innovative leader, bringing a passion for community healthcare. Along with his fiscal acumen and creative approach to health equity challenges, he brings an exciting energy to the Southwest Oregon region.

Prior to this hire, Max was the CEO of One Community Health, where he transformed the organization, achieving top workplace recognition, and drove health equity initiatives in the Columbia Gorge. Formerly VP of Innovation at Cambia Health Solutions, Max pioneered healthcare technology innovations and contributed to the company’s reputation as one of the world’s most ethical and healthiest workplaces.

When our CEO of 25+ years announced his plans to retire, it fell on me as the Chair of the Board to find a suitable replacement.

They also conducted initial interviews, background checks, and reference checks to ensure the most qualified applicants were presented to the hiring committee. Once we selected our final candidate, Debbie and Jenn remained invested in the process, continuing to engage closely as the new CEO started in their position.

Their actions have shown that they truly care about our company, and want us to succeed with this transition.
