Most Admired Companies, Recruitment & Consulting: Boly:Welch
An interview with Boly:Welch Co-Founder and CEO, Pat Welch
The #1 Most Admired Recruiting & Consulting firm in Oregon is once again Boly:Welch. What do you think stood out about your company for Most Admired voters?
We’ve spent years building real relationships, listening, being consultative and doing what we say we’ll do. People know they can count on us for practical solutions and a team that genuinely cares. We think that trust and consistency stand out.
How do you maintain a strong brand?
Our values guide every decision, especially when there is a lot of change or disruption in the external market. We stay focused on relationships, flexibility, and doing what’s right for people. That consistency keeps our brand strong, no matter the conditions.
What are your company’s major milestones or accomplishments in the past year?
This year, we expanded our HR consulting services and grew our offerings within our enterprise accounts, responding directly to client requests for deeper support. These milestones set the stage for our big 4-0 next year — a celebration of four decades of trusted partnerships and doing work we love.
What are your major goals or expectations for the coming year?
Next year is a big one for us: We’re celebrating our 40th anniversary and the legacy that brought us here. We’ll recommit to community-building in Portland with some exciting events, and we’re moving our office just one block away to create an even better space for collaboration.
How have you managed a more unpredictable business and economic climate in the past year?
We’ve had to stay scrappy and creative. Instead of chasing quick wins, we doubled down on listening to “what do clients and candidates really need right now?” That helped us pivot fast, prioritize the right work, and keep relationships strong even when we weren’t sure what was going to happen next.
