We hear a lot of interesting responses when we tell people we work at Boly:Welch. Many people who haven’t worked with us assume we’re a professional services firm because our name comes from our founders, Diane Boly and Pat Welch — an often common naming technique in that industry.
“That’s a law firm, right?”
“Nope — although we do place candidates at most law firms in town!”
“Oh, you guys are CPAs!”
“Uh, no. But we do work with CPAs!”
“I’ve heard so many great things about Boly:Welch! What do you do again?”
“Essentially, Boly:Welch connects the region’s top employers to top talent.”
We’re pretty good at it, too! We’ve been consistently recognized as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work for in Oregon for our family-forward, flexible, and sustainable culture. We’re a women-owned, women-run operation that’s big on sustainability and community engagement (we’ve been certified as a B Corp since 2016).
We place a big emphasis on work/life balance, unbeatable service, accountability, and fun (ask us about Spring Break). We’ve been in business for over 35 years and have about 40 internal employees, with an average tenure of over seven years.
What Makes Us Different?
We differentiate ourselves from other agencies through the level of human touch involved in our recruiting process. Our CEO, Pat Welch, chatted with Oregon Business Magazine recently: “I don’t think the human touch will ever be replaced. If anything, experienced, intuitive human recruiters are more important than ever to help people navigate an increasingly fractured and overloaded hiring process.” Our team definitely uses technology, but we don’t rely exclusively on it. In fact, we have a Sourcing Specialist who reviews every single resume we receive.
A Refresher on What We Do:
Sometimes the employers and candidates we work with only know us for the roles we’ve directly worked on or filled for them. For example, if a company only knows us for filling their reception needs for the last 15 years, they might not know that we could also help to recruit their next Chief Financial Officer. Or a candidate we’ve placed in a contract role at a large footwear and apparel company might not know to refer a friend to us who is job searching in the legal field.
As a staffing and recruiting agency, we specialize in key areas. Our eight specialty areas include:
- Accounting
- Administration & Operations
- Financial Services
- Footwear & Apparel
- Human Resources
- Legal (support roles and attorneys)
- Marketing & Advertising
- Executive Leadership
Within these specialty areas, we see a bit of scope, primarily in terms of type and level of roles — anything from Executive Search placements to contract temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire positions. For example, our Executive Search team might be working on a Chief Human Resources Officer position while our HR Recruiters work on a temporary HRIS role at a food & beverage company, an HR Manager position at a smaller nonprofit, and a temp-to-hire Benefits Specialist role with a large manufacturing company, all at the same time.
Our jobs page, where every ad is written and maintained by our Candidate Marketing Manager, has the most up-to-date information on most of the jobs we’re working to fill. Due to confidentiality or the very temporary nature of some roles, we don’t post every position. However, looking through our posted positions can provide good insight into whether we could help fill your next open role.
Executive Search
We also specialize in recruiting and onboarding at the executive level. Through these retained search engagements, we’re able to leverage our network of relationships, sourcing expertise, and industry knowledge to find experienced, accomplished, and personable professionals to fill key leadership roles.
Here to Help!
We know that hiring is hard and the job search can be daunting, so we try to provide as many resources as we can to clients and candidates alike. For example, we’ve partnered with Scout Books and Ross Jackson to produce comics on establishing a hiring process and structuring a job search! We also have a robust blog, with helpful content on everything from resumes, interviewing, salary negotiation, and more! We also host workshops featuring helpful topics for job seekers.
